Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The body holds up well, but only if the car is not used off-road. Rust forms in places where dirt accumulates, especially under the overlays. For its time, the interior is quite rich and pleases with numerous options. The only thing that wears out very quickly is the leather on the steering wheel, gear lever, and seats. The electrical system rarely causes problems, forums only complain about the ribbon cable of the steering column. Engine The 2.4-liter gasoline engine G4JS is quite reliable if you take care of the belts. All V6 engines G6CU, G6DB, and G6DA also have a very long lifespan. The 2.5-liter turbo diesel D4CB is quite troublesome and has many drawbacks. These are standard problems with the fuel system and burnt washers under the injectors. The bearings are also weak here and often rotate when the oil pressure drops. Transmission The 5-speed manual transmissions M5SR1 and M5UR1 are reliable, but the clutch doesn't last long. The 4-speed automatic Aisin 30-40LE is very strong, its lifespan is over 300,000 km. The 5-speed automatic A5SR1 or Jatco JR507A is known for its best side. Most of the problems here are related to components of the all-wheel drive transmission. Most breakdowns are caused by poor maintenance, lack of lubrication, or corrosion. Suspension The suspension here is stiff but robust, and almost all its components last up to 100,000 km. On the forum, there are complaints about quickly sagging springs and the cost of some parts. The steering rack is reliable, sometimes there are complaints about the driveshaft jamming. The brakes are weak but last a long time, the only complaint may be about corroded pipes.
