Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The car body is only partially galvanized and without proper maintenance it can rust to holes. Corrosion quickly develops under the bottom, suspension and exhaust elements rust. The interior is made of cheap materials, but for its age it is very well equipped. If you don't pay attention to the condition of the wiring, the electrical system will cause a lot of trouble. Engine Mitsubishi gasoline power units are reliable and easy to repair. The main thing is to monitor the condition of the belt, as it has a short service life and can bend valves if it breaks. Owners also complain about the low lifespan of hydraulic compensators and engine mounts. In the early years there were problems with the cooling system, but they have long been fixed. Transmission Mitsubishi manual and automatic transmissions are well known for their good performance. In the early years, the bearings in the manual gearbox didn't last long, but now you won't find such issues anymore. Automatics don't like aggressive driving, and frequent accelerations significantly reduce their lifespan. Suspension The suspension in this model is simple, quite reliable, and very affordable in terms of spare parts. Bushings of the stabilizer and hub bearings are often replaced before reaching 100,000 km. In the early years, brake hose and CV joint boots often burst. There are no special complaints about the steering, only the tie rod ends wear out quickly.
