Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The paintwork here is delicate and chips appear quickly, but due to galvanizing, there is no rust. On forums, people constantly complain about fogging headlights and weak chrome plating. The materials in the interior are cheap and not durable, creaks and squeaks appear immediately. Leather upholstery on the steering wheel and seats is particularly prone to rapid wear. The electrical system constantly presents problems, sometimes they appear, sometimes they disappear. Engine The reliable and low-maintenance 2.0-liter gasoline engine G4KD has been tarnished by the issue of cylinder scoring. In the early years, phase regulators regularly failed, and the chain stretched. After restyling, the 2.0-liter G4NA engine appeared, but its weak points remained the same. The 2.0-liter diesel engine D4HA, with proper maintenance, lasts a long time. Transmission The rare 5-speed manual transmission M5GF1 is known for being the best. The M6CF4 and M6GF2 manuals were only troublesome in the first year of production, otherwise they are reliable. The 6-speed automatic transmissions A6MF1 and A6LF2 also had some issues only in the first year. However, without regular oil changes, the hydraulic block doesn't last long. The splines of the all-wheel drive transmission rust and deteriorate when exposed to moisture. Suspension Until 2012, the suspension caused a lot of trouble, but the problems were resolved under warranty. Then it was thoroughly improved and everything started working decently. Stabilizer struts, support bearings, and hub bearings last less than 100,000 km. The steering rack often knocks at around 50,000 km, but the design was updated towards the end of production.
