Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior
The body is galvanized and does not rust quickly, but the paint coating is quite weak. The interior is not resistant to wear, and the seat padding wears out quickly. The sound insulation is poor, and creaks and squeaks may appear as early as 50,000 km of mileage. The interior electrical system often malfunctions, especially with regard to the heated options.
Engine
The main problem with engines from the Gamma family is cylinder scoring. All models' engines are equipped with a chain-driven timing mechanism, but its lifespan is not very long. However, overall they do not cause too much trouble for their owners.
Transmission
The six-speed manual and automatic transmissions have proven themselves well. The weak points of the manual transmission are the primary shaft seal and the release bearing. The robotized transmission is rare, jerks in traffic, but has no reliability issues.
Suspension
The suspension performs decently, and there is a wide selection of affordable spare parts available. Only the wheel bearings and rear control arm bushings need to be replaced by 100,000 km. The steering system is not known for its reliability, but many components have been replaced under warranty. There are few complaints about the braking system, only the ABS sensors and the electric parking brake are criticized.
