Overview and Common Failures

BodyThe body as a whole resists corrosion well, but only its edges rust heavily. However, the metal itself is very thin and easily bends with any damage. The headlights are a separate pain point: they shine weakly, quickly become cloudy, and the fog lights simply crack. InteriorThe budget materials of the interior look cheap and squeak a lot, and there is no sound insulation. But the main problem lies in the short-lived door seals. There is minimal electrical wiring, but it often fails, especially the central lock, the stereo, and the ignition lock. EngineThe engines are known for oil and coolant leaks, low timing belt lifespan, and problems with the cylinder head. TransmissionThe D16 manual gearbox and the Aisin 60-41SN automatic transmission do not have any special issues, but the D13 manual gearbox, which was installed with the 1.2-liter engine, is not very reliable. Bearings can start humming in it before reaching 100,000 km, synchronizers can wear out or the fifth gear can jam. SuspensionThe suspension constantly requires some kind of repair. The stabilizer struts, hub bearings, bushings, and shocks are all at risk and have a very limited lifespan. The steering rack starts rattling around 50,000 km, and the power steering often fails. The front brakes are not very effective and have a very short lifespan. But there are no complaints about the rear brakes.
