Renault Logan Stepway

The Renault Logan Stepway was introduced to the market in 2018 and production immediately began at the factory in Togliatti. This model differs from the standard version with increased ground clearance and off-road equipment. In addition to the manual gearbox and hydrokinetic automatic transmission, there is also a continuously variable Jatco JF015E system available. The Logan family also includes the following models: L90 (2004 - 2015) and L52 (2012 - present).

The car was equipped with engines:

Overview and Common Failures

Body The paintwork on the body is just as weak as that of a regular sedan, so it quickly gets chipped. However, they don't rust as quickly as their predecessor. The edges of the wheel arches are protected by plastic trim and aren't afraid of sandblasting. Interior The Stepway interior differs from the regular Logan 2 only in terms of badges on the steering wheel and seatbacks, so it inherits all of its shortcomings, including illogical button placement, cheap materials, poor sound insulation, and glitches with the steering wheel switch. Engine The 1.6-liter power units K4M and K7M with a cast iron block and belt-driven timing are known for their immense durability, but they regularly cause minor issues for owners: sensors and ignition coils often fail, and there are also leaks from the seals. The 1.6-liter H4M engine with an aluminum cylinder block and chain-driven timing has a more modest lifespan, but the reliability of this engine is practically exemplary. Owners on dedicated forums complain the most about slight oil consumption. Transmission The 5-speed manual Renault JR5 with cable-operated gear selection mechanism is considered quite reliable and is only notorious for bearing noise and oil leaks. The 4-speed automatic transmission with the index DP2 has quite a few problems. The Jatco JF015E continuously variable transmission often broke down in the early years of production, even at low mileage, but now it serves well. If not abused and with regular oil changes, it can last up to 200,000 km. Suspension The suspension cannot be called very reliable here. By 100,000 km, many owners have already had to replace stabilizer struts, hub bearings, ball joints, and tie rod ends. There are no complaints about the steering rack, but the lifespan of the brake discs and pads is a bit short.
