Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior The paint coating has been reinforced, and the body has become 15 percent stiffer in torsion. However, the frequent problem of cracking paint on the car roof has not yet been eliminated. The materials in the interior have been improved, and many will appreciate the large number of warm options. Owners only complain about uncomfortable seating and uncovered door sills. In terms of the electrical components, everything is fine, except for the multimedia system that annoys with its glitches. Engine The 1.6-liter H4M engine is known from the first generation and has proven itself well. Oil consumption or timing chain stretching often occurs at high mileage. The 2.0-liter F4R unit has also performed excellently in its predecessor. Due to its high compression ratio, it does not tolerate poor fuel quality and is prone to detonation. The recently introduced 1.3-liter turbocharged H5Ht engine has not yet shown any negative characteristics. Like all direct injection engines, it suffers from carbon buildup on the valves. The 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine is renowned for its durability and a fairly good lifespan. This engine is very demanding in terms of maintenance quality and the fuel used. Transmission The six-speed manual transmissions TL4 and TL8 do not have any reliability issues. Not everyone likes the short first gear, as it is not very convenient in the city. The Jatco JF016E continuously variable transmission is a debatable choice as the only automatic transmission option. Suspension The suspension has become more refined, but the crossover is slightly stiff on 17-inch tires. The power steering rack now has an electric assist and does not transmit vibrations from uneven surfaces. There are no complaints from owners about the braking system; it is simple and quite reliable.
