Overview and Common Failures

The pre-facelift version of the 5-door hatchback was available from 2000 to 2003 and offered two petrol engines only with a manual transmission:

  • 1.0 liter Z10XE: 58 hp, 85 Nm, 5-speed manual F12
  • 1.2 liter Z12XE: 75 hp, 110 Nm, 5-speed manual F12

After the facelift, which occurred from 2003 to 2007, the exterior of the car did not undergo significant changes, but the range of powertrains was completely updated:

  • 1.0 liter Z10XEP: 60 hp, 88 Nm, 5-speed manual F12
  • 1.2 liter Z12XEP: 80 hp, 110 Nm, 5-speed manual F13

Additionally, diesel modifications were introduced:

  • 1.3 liter Z13DT: 70 hp, 170 Nm, 5-speed manual F17+

Faults

Problems such as frequent microcracks and haze on the factory windshield and some wear on the right steering tie rod end occur occasionally. Less frequently encountered issues include unreliable front bumper attachment, premature thermostat failure, and occasional airbag error occurrences. Isolated cases involve sticking of the front brake cylinder pistons and longitudinal play in the right driveshaft.
