Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior: The paintwork is thin and prone to chipping, but the body is galvanized and does not rust. On forums, people complain about quickly tarnishing chrome or constantly foggy headlights. The interior looks quite nice, spacious, and usually well-equipped. Owners often note insufficient sound insulation and a small trunk. There are few problems with the electrical system, but the rain sensor and outdated multimedia system are criticized.
Engine: The 2.5-liter hybrid engine QR25DER is rare and not particularly reliable. It has a modest chain lifespan and frequent electrical failures. The 3.5-liter VQ35DE engine is a legendary motor, but it has high fuel consumption. The most important thing is to avoid overheating as it can quickly damage the aluminum cylinder heads. Also, the catalytic converter deteriorates quickly from low-quality fuel, which is dangerous for the cylinders.
Transmission: The Jatco JF017E continuously variable transmission is generally reliable but requires careful operation. Sudden accelerations, wheel spinning, and driving without warming up significantly reduce the lifespan of the gearbox. This transmission is also sensitive to oil cleanliness; it should be changed more frequently. The Jatco JF018E CVT was installed in hybrid versions and is equally reliable. The all-wheel drive system is relatively simple but does not cause any particular problems.
Chassis: The suspension is ordinary, with MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, and it performs without issues. Up to 100,000 km, only stabilizer bushings and wheel bearings are often replaced. The steering rack may start making noise by 100,000 km, but it can be driven with the noise for a long time. The lifespan of the brake discs and pads is not significant, but there are high-quality alternatives available.
