Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior
The paint is thin and easily chips, but the galvanized body doesn't rust. There are complaints about easily scratched glass, foggy chrome, and weak headlights. The car's interior is made of decent materials, well assembled, and richly equipped. The forum users criticize the poor sound insulation, weak resistance to wear, and small trunk. Electrical issues are not common, owners only mention a glitchy stereo.
Engine
The 2.0-liter turbocharged G4KL engine from the Theta II lineup has proven itself to be good so far. The only regular complaint is about the failure of the injection pump, but they are replaced under warranty. The 3.3-liter V6 G6DP engine with twin turbocharging doesn't have any particular problems, although it is rare. The cooling system is criticized on American forums. Both engines are equipped with direct fuel injection and suffer from carbon deposits on the valves.
Transmission
The 8-speed automatic transmissions A8LR1 and A8TR1 hold up well to high engine torque without any issues. However, their programming is very conservative, resulting in a significant delay during acceleration. Also, a long service life is guaranteed only with frequent transmission oil changes. There are no specific complaints about the all-wheel-drive system on the dedicated forum. Many have experienced noise from the rear differential, which dealers fix by changing the oil.
Suspension
The suspension here is stiff for better handling and handles all road joints. However, there are no reliability issues, and it can last almost entirely up to 100,000 km. The steering rack is trouble-free, but the electric power steering is located low and is afraid of water. There are no particular complaints about the braking system, except that the brake pad lifespan is somewhat short.
