Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior The paintwork is thin and quickly gets chipped, but the body is galvanized. Corrosion is often found on the door edges, especially in the trunk. The plastic in the interior is quite budget-friendly and not particularly resistant to wear. In this model, the electrical system often malfunctions due to contact oxidation.
Engine The 1.4 and 1.6-liter engines are quite reliable and do not have any problems with scoring. Their weak points can only be attributed to the modest lifespan of the timing chain and frequent leaks. The 2.0-liter power unit is also known for its unpretentiousness and durability.
Transmission Manual gearboxes are weak and often require serious repairs by 100,000 km. Automatic transmissions have an excellent reputation and serve without issues for 250-300 thousand km.
Suspension The suspension here is not known for its reliability, but the spare parts are inexpensive and widely available. Usually, the wheel bearings and all shock absorbers are replaced before reaching 100,000 km. The steering rack also has a small lifespan, as well as the tie rods or ball joints. As for the braking system, there are minimal complaints, it performs no worse than that of its competitors.
