Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The paint coating is thin, but the body is galvanized and chips don't rust for a long time. Most complaints are related to weak chrome plating and soft glass. The car interior is spacious and functional, with decent finishing materials. There are complaints on forums about poor wear resistance and insufficient sound insulation. There are few electrical issues, but the fuel level sensor occasionally malfunctions. Engine The 2.0-liter G4NA engine with distributed injection was installed in Kazakhstan. Its gas version, indexed as L4NA, is typical for imported cars from Korea. The most well-known problems with these engines are scoring and weak timing chain. The gasoline engines 1.6 G4FD and 2.0 G4NC stand out for their direct injection and also suffer from carbon deposits on the intake valves. The 1.7-liter D4FD diesel engine has wide distribution on the European market. The main concerns here are contamination of the intake manifold and EGR valve. Transmission The 6-speed manual transmission M6CF1 is quite reliable, but it is criticized for oil leaks from seals. The 6-speed manual transmission M6GF2 has even more durability and worries beyond 100,000 km. Its weak points are short-lived clutch and dual-mass flywheel. The 6-speed automatic transmission A6MF1 of the updated version does not cause any particular troubles. The 7-speed robotized transmission D7UF1 is criticized for jerky operation and low clutch durability. Suspension The car's suspension is quite stiff, and the lifespan of many of its components is very low. Ball joints, support bearings, and numerous bushings are often replaced before 50,000 km. Another weak point is the shocks and their short-lived bump stops. Owners do not have major complaints about the braking system and steering.
