Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior
The paintwork is very soft and quickly gets chipped, but the body itself does not rust. The paint often bubbles around the windshield and the bumpers quickly peel off. The interior has good quality materials, well-assembled, and packed with useful options. However, the durability is weak, especially for the leather trim on the steering wheel and seats. Electrical issues commonly occur with the rearview camera and climate control.
Engine
All gasoline engines - 1.6 G4FD, 2.0 G4NA, and G4NC - have the same problems. The main issue is scoring in the cylinders due to debris from the catalytic converter. Additionally, engines with direct injection (G4FD and G4NC) suffer from carbon deposits on the valves. The 1.7-liter diesel D4FD does not tolerate low-quality fuel, and the injectors and fuel pump fail immediately. It also has a relatively short lifespan for the turbocharger and quickly clogs the soot filter and EGR.
Transmission
In the early years of production, the 6-speed manuals M6CF1 and M6CF3 had several problems. However, the manufacturer quickly resolved them, and now they do not cause any trouble. The 6-speed automatics A6MF1 and A6MF2 are known for their reliability. The 7-speed robotized manual D7UF1 is bothersome with jerky shifts and has a short lifespan for its clutches.
Suspension
The suspension of this model is sporty and stiff, designed for sharp handling. However, the reliability is weak, as ball joints and shock absorbers need to be replaced before reaching 100,000 km. The braking system performs efficiently and lasts long without significant complaints. The steering rack's bushings break easily, and the electric power steering (EPS) often fails.
