Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The paintwork is weak, but the body holds up well compared to its classmates Owners complain about the fragile plastic: handles break and bumpers crack The interior is budget-friendly in terms of materials and soundproofing, plus the assembly quality is not great There are few problems with the electrical system, mainly due to poor equipment Engine The Alpha series engines: G4EH, G4EK, and G4ER are simple in design and quite reliable Usually, they only cause minor issues such as a clogged throttle, EGR, or damaged wiring On high mileage, oil consumption and tapping hydraulic lifters are often encountered The rare carbureted unit G4EA causes problems with the injection system Transmission The 5-speed manual transmission M5AF3 is quite reliable but doesn't like high-torque engines Versions with 1.5-liter engines often require overhaul around 100,000 km The 4-speed automatic transmission A4AF2 is a clone of a sturdy Mitsubishi gearbox Complaints are usually only about electrical failures due to weak solenoid wiring Suspension The car has low ground clearance, stiff suspension, and the lifespan of its components is not great Ball joints, shock absorbers, and numerous bushings are often replaced before reaching 100,000 km Owners do not have any particular complaints about the braking system or steering.
