Overview and Common Failures
The body is made of very thin metal, but it resists corrosion well. Among the disadvantages are delicate paintwork and weak bumper attachments.
Interior
In the interior, the steering wheel and gear lever quickly wear out, seat heaters often fail, and plastic rods for air recirculation flaps come off.
Engines
The F16D3 engine is notorious for valve sticking and ignition failures due to oil entering the spark plug wells. Its sibling, the F18D4, is known for frequent camshaft regulator failures and regular electrical malfunctions. The A14NET turbocharged engine breaks down less often, but the cost of repairs is significantly higher. You can find more details about the engines by clicking on their names.
Transmission
The D16 manual gearbox often leaks oil, but is generally reliable. The more powerful six-speed manual gearboxes M32 and F40 are even better, but they are less common. As for the 6T30 and 6T40 automatic transmissions, they are not satisfactory, and all their problems are described in separate articles.
Suspension
While the rear suspension lasts a long time, you will most likely have to replace a couple of silent blocks in the front before reaching 100,000 km. The power steering is the weak point of the car's steering system, and on the updated versions, it is already an electric power steering system. There are few complaints about the brakes, only squeaking brake pads and a sticking handbrake.
