Overview and Common Failures

Body and Interior The paintwork is thin and prone to chipping, but the body itself is well-maintained. Corrosion can easily be found on the edges of the doors, hood, or around the windshield. There are also complaints about unreliable windshield wipers or sagging door hinges. The interior has a boring design, but it is very spacious and the finishing materials are decent. On forums, there are complaints about low resistance to wear and mediocre sound insulation. There are no major problems with the electrical system, and owners praise the powerful air conditioner. Engine The 3.8-liter gasoline V6 engine G6DA has a high lifespan and is quite reliable. However, at high mileages, oil consumption and timing chain stretching are often encountered. The 3.0-liter diesel engines D6EA and D6EB have a long service life with proper maintenance. The only weak points are the glow plug module and the crankcase ventilation system. Transmission The 6-speed Aisin TF81SC automatic transmission is known for its reliability. If aggressive starts are frequently used, the transmission may need to be overhauled at 200,000 km. The in-house developed 6-speed A6LF3 automatic transmission also does not cause any trouble. However, bolts for the central gear of early production models often come loose. The all-wheel drive system with an electromagnetic clutch is simple and reliable. It is necessary to monitor the condition of splined joints and check for lubrication. Suspension The crossover's suspension is quite durable, and usually all components last up to 100,000 km. The weak point is the not very reliable and expensive rear shock absorbers. After 100,000 km, ball joints or rear hub bearings are often replaced. Owners have no major complaints about the brake system and steering.
