Overview and Common Failures

The pre-facelift sedan was available in China from 2014 to 2016 and was offered with two gasoline engines paired with either a manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The available options were:

  • A 1.5-liter engine (JLY-4G15) producing 106 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque.
  • A 1.8-liter engine (JLY-4G18) delivering 129 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque.

After the facelift, from 2016 to 2018, the sedan continued to be sold in China. The engine and transmission options remained the same, but their power characteristics were slightly altered:

  • The 1.5-liter engine JLY-4G15) was reduced to 103 horsepower and 138 Nm.
  • The 1.8-liter engine (JLY-4G18) was increased to 133 horsepower and 170 Nm.

Additionally, some sources mention the presence of 1.5-liter (JLC-4G15) and 1.8-liter (JLC-4G18) engines.

Geely Emgrand 7 is a stylish and comfortable car with a spacious and elegant interior, providing smooth driving thanks to its good handling. It's a reliable and safe model at an affordable price. However, high maintenance and insurance costs, as well as limited trunk space and not the lowest fuel consumption, may be drawbacks for some users.
