Overview and Common Failures

Body and interior: The paintwork is weak and chips appear quickly, but the body is galvanized and does not rust. The most complaints are about the chrome coating, soft and easily scratchable glass. The materials of the interior are decent, and the trim levels are rich with useful options. Only the leather on the steering wheel quickly wears out, and the sound insulation of the wheel arches is weak. The remaining complaints are related to glitches in the onboard computer and climate control. Engine: The 2.0-liter turbocharged GW4C20 engine has proven itself in the best way so far. On the forum, most people complain about high fuel consumption and sluggish performance. This engine has direct injection, and the intake valves quickly get clogged with carbon deposits. Sometimes the turbine fails due to a bent impeller or a cracked pipe. Transmission: The 6-speed Getrag 6DCT451 robotized transmission is reliable and does not cause major problems. However, it often requires expensive clutch replacement at around 100,000 km mileage. Suspension: The suspension is quite reliable, owners often only replace the stabilizer bar links. At a mileage of 100-120,000 km, ball joints and shock absorbers may fail. The steering rack is fairly sturdy, but its tie rods and ends do not last long. Brake discs and pads do not have a long lifespan, but there are good alternatives available.
