Overview and Common Failures

The body is well treated and holds up decently, but the windows quickly become foggy and often crack. The bumpers lack elasticity and easily develop cracks. Interior The car's interior looks luxurious, but the quality of materials is mediocre at best. The silver paint easily chips, as does the thin leather on the steering wheel and gear stick. The front seats cannot withstand heavyset drivers and completely deteriorate by 100,000 km. Around the same mileage, the dashboard often starts squeaking loudly. However, there are no major complaints about the electrical system, and if something doesn't work, check the connections. Engines The inline-six engines X20D1 and X25D1 are similar in design and problems. These engines suffer from excessive oil consumption, frequent cooling system failures, and low oil pump lifespan. Additionally, catalytic converters often disintegrate around 150,000 km, with fragments scratching the cylinder walls. Transmission The manual gearboxes D24 and D33 usually cause a lot of trouble for their owners. The synchronizers and bearings have a very limited lifespan, and the cable-operated control system often comes loose by 150,000 km, resulting in imprecise shifting. Before the facelift, the car was equipped with the 5-speed Aisin 55-50SN automatic transmission, which is sensitive to overheating and requires regular oil changes. However, if properly maintained, it performs adequately. After the facelift, a 6-speed in-house automatic transmission 6T40 was introduced, which has a multitude of problems. Since listing all its faults would take too long, we will cover them in a separate article. Suspension The suspension is noticeably weak, and many components may require replacement as early as 50,000 km: shock absorbers, strut mounts, ball joints, and a significant number of bushings. The steering rack usually develops a knocking noise at low mileage but remains functional for a long time, with play and leaks appearing closer to 200,000 km. The brakes, although weak, also do not pose any major issues.
