Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the X25D1 engine according to the catalog is 175 kg. The engine number X25D1 is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. The most well-known engine failure is the spinning of the bearings due to a jammed oil pump. Fragments of a deteriorating catalyst get stuck in the cylinders, scratching the walls. Another cause of excessive oil consumption is the wear of valve seals and ring deposits. The cooling system also causes many problems: sometimes there are leaks in the hoses or the reservoir bursts. After excessive tightening of the drain plug, the engine block often cracks. The aluminum-silicon coating on the cylinder walls can start deteriorating as early as 100,000 km. The oil pressure sensor, generator, and hydraulic compensators have a limited service life.
