Overview and Common Failures
Body and Interior The paint coating is thin, but the car body is galvanized and does not rust quickly. Owners only complain about weak headlight glass or cloudy chrome plating. The interior here is made of rich and durable materials, and the sound insulation is decent. On forums, there are complaints about peeling leather on the steering wheel or a faulty climate control system. The battery and fuse block are located under the seats and are afraid of moisture.
Engine The 2.0-liter turbocharged GW4C20 engine is considered reliable and rarely causes concerns. The main complaints are related to high fuel consumption and weak performance. Floating RPMs due to carbon deposits on the intake valves are regularly encountered. There have been cases of turbocharger failure due to bent blades or a ruptured pipe.
Transmission The 6-speed ZF 6HP21 automatic transmission is known for its high reliability. When the oil is changed every 60,000 km, it serves without problems for over 200,000 km. The all-wheel-drive system with an electromagnetic coupling from BorgWarner is also good. The recall campaign for rear differential replacement only applied to cars for China.
Suspension The suspension here has a long service life, and the stabilizer struts are often replaced up to 100,000 km. Closer to 100,000 km, ball joints and shock absorbers may require replacement. The steering rack is not considered problematic, but tie rods and end links do not last long. The original brake discs and pads are weak, but there are also good aftermarket options. There was also a recall campaign to replace defective brake lines.
