Engine Overview and Common Failures

The weight of the XU7JP4 engine according to the catalog is 120 kg. The engine number XU7JP4 is located at the junction of the block and the gearbox. Electrical problems: This reliable engine with a long lifespan is mainly associated with electrical issues. The coolant and throttle position sensors often fail, the fuel pump frequently malfunctions, and the idle speed stepper motor regulator may also be faulty. Control unit: This power unit is equipped with a rather temperamental control unit from Sagem. The idle control chip regularly burns out, causing fluctuations in engine speed. Throttle: The throttle valve is a simple mechanical one, but it can cause a lot of trouble. It not only quickly gets dirty but also freezes, requiring adaptation after removal. Other problems: This engine also commonly suffers from air leaks, leaks from under the valve covers, freezing of crankcase ventilation pipes, which can cause oil to be forced out through the dipstick. Additionally, it is prone to hydraulic shock since the air intake is located very low.
