Overview and Common Failures
Body Despite being a budget car, the body of the car is galvanized and resistant to corrosion. Sometimes rust can be found on the trunk lid and edges of the rear doors.
Interior Compared to the first Logan, the interior is decent both in terms of materials and ergonomics. The main complaints from owners on the model's forum are related to assembly flaws, very weak sound insulation, and relatively frequent failures in the electrical system.
Engine The 1.4-liter 16-valve K4J engine was inherited from the first generation of the model. The engine, with its cast iron block and 16-valve head with hydraulic compensators, is generally reliable, but there are concerns about regular electrical failures, lubricant and coolant leaks. The 1.6-liter 16-valve K4M engine only differs in displacement from the one described above. Both engines bend valves in the event of a timing belt failure and have low bearing life. In Europe, the 1.2-liter D4F engine and the 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine gained popularity.
Transmission Most of these sedans were equipped with 5-speed manual transmissions JB1 and JB3. Their weak point is the left drive shaft seal, which often leaks oil. The 4-speed automatic transmission DP0 has an extremely bad reputation among the people, but it works quite well on the small Symbol with its low-power engines. Its weaknesses include a tendency to overheat and a short solenoid life.
Chassis The car's suspension is simple and very reliable, and it also has excellent energy capacity. Up to 100,000 km, only stabilizer struts are often replaced, sometimes hub bearings as well. Also, due to heavy loads, the dust boots of the rear shock absorbers often burst here. There are no problems with the steering rack, forums only complain about leaks from the power steering pump seal. Additionally, in this car, the brake cylinders of the rear drums can occasionally leak.
